Just one year ago, Roxanne Perez was stripped of her NXT Women's Championship. Prior to her first reign as champion, and throughout her reign, Perez proved to be a fighting champion that was ready to take on any competitor, and an overall fan favorite in NXT. After defeating former NXT UK Women's Champion Meiko Satomura, Perez fainted at the end of her match, and was later stripped of the title altogether as she was declared unable to compete for a short time.
Over the past year, her journey back to the top has been a rough road. Well, that pertaining to the rest of the NXT Women's roster. While others were competing, Perez was seeking revenge and the title she never lost, every step of the way. Over the months the then former NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez displayed a new attitude and aggression the audience had never seen from her. Attacking opponents after their matches, and hanging on to that crossface just a little bit longer than the referee allows displayed Perez's change of heart towards her journey.
As the weeks went by, the former champion reminded the NXT Universe over and over again that she deserved the opportunity to get her championship back. What started as a pleading for another chance, quickly catapulted into a demand to be GIVEN back the title that was never lost. At NXT: Stand & Deliver, Roxanne Perez would defeat Lyra Valkyria in a hellacious technical battle to be crowned a two-time NXT Women's Champion.
